Terms

These are the house rules. They exist to keep Prowl safe and functional. Written in plain language because you should not need a lawyer to understand them.

Age

Prowl is for adults. By using the app, you confirm you are at least 18 years old. No exceptions.

Conduct

Do not use Prowl to harass, threaten, stalk, or harm anyone. Accounts that violate this are suspended or permanently removed. Abuse reports follow your device — creating a new account does not reset your history.

Content

No content involving minors. None. Ever.

Do not impersonate other people. Be whoever you want to be, but do not pretend to be someone specific who is not you.

Public photos cannot contain explicit nudity (app store requirement). NSFW content is allowed in private messages and private albums.

Do not attempt to de-anonymize other users. People choose how much to reveal. Respect that.

Verification

Prowl may verify your account using automated checks (device signals, location patterns, usage behavior). If checks flag your account, you may be asked to submit a selfie for manual review. Refusing verification limits your access to read-only mode until resolved. Verification is about community safety, not identity disclosure.

Account states

Active: Full access. All checks passed or verified.

Under review: Some automated checks flagged your account. Limited chat access while review is pending. You can fast-track by submitting a photo.

Restricted: Multiple checks failed or verification was rejected. Read-only access. You can submit a photo to appeal.

Payment issue: Your subscription payment failed. You keep free tier access and all your data. Fix payment to restore your plan.

Device tracking

Prowl saves an anonymous device identifier to prevent harassment and protect the community. This identifier persists after account deletion. If your device has been associated with abuse across any account, new accounts from that device may be restricted or blocked. This is disclosed in our Privacy Policy.

Events

When you host an event, you set the rules. Attendees agree to follow them. Event addresses are private until you choose to reveal them. Prowl is not responsible for what happens at events — use good judgment, communicate boundaries, and prioritize safety.

Bots and scrapers

Do not use bots, scrapers, automated tools, or any non-human method to interact with Prowl or its users.

Meeting in person

Prowl connects you with people nearby. What happens when you meet is between you and them. Use good judgment. Meet in public first if you can. Use the location sharing safety feature. Tell someone where you are going. Trust your gut.

Subscriptions

The free tier gives full access to core functionality. Pro ($9.99/month or $79.99/year) adds advanced features.

Founding Members pay $59.99/year, locked in for life while their subscription remains active.

Cancel anytime. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing period. No partial refunds.

Moderation

Content may be moderated and accounts may be suspended when these rules are broken. This is not done arbitrarily. You can appeal through the verification process.

Changes

These terms may be updated. Material changes will be communicated through the app. Continuing to use Prowl after changes take effect means you accept them.
